As a result of this, Munni, her docile sister enters the mansion, where the witch turns the little girl into a hen! Chunni is hysterical when she discovers this. She runs from pillar to post to get help, but her credibility is at an all-time low and the entire village refuses to believe her, except the cops, Ghanta and Banta. But they turn up too late. Chunni enters the haunted mansion to search for her sister. Chunni has never been so terrified in her entire life. She enters the main hall and, to her horror, finds the witch waiting for her. She pleads with the witch to let the poor little sister go, as it was no fault of hers. But the witch asks her to strike a deal. She will turn Munni back into a human only if Chunni can acquire for her a hundred hens in exchange. All of a sudden, Chunni is confronted with the biggest challenge of her life.

Petruchio (Douglas Fairbanks) steps in to tame the shrew but can he? This talkie is the only film co-starring Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. This print is from the 1966 re-release, the only film Miss Pickford allowed since her retirement. It is faithful to the original except that new music and new sound effects were added by Mr. Marty Kemp of the Mary Pickford Company during his painstaking restoration of the film. Seven minutes of the footage that were in the original were removed in bits and pieces to tighten the editing and the sound of the voices was improved by newre-recording techniques since only the original sound discs, scratched and deteriorated over the years remained as the source material. Serious difficulties with Douglas Fairbanks, combined with other troubles, caused Miss Pickford to recall the filming of the Shrew as a dreadful experience, although in retrospect she later said that she thought Fairbanks was magnificent in the final version of the film.
