Manufacturers

Primus
A Primus blow lamp with model number 835. The plastic handle and the plastic adjusting knob as well as the sticker on the tank, indicates that this was one of the latest blow lamps produced.

Manufacturers of blow lamps can be found in quite a few countries of the world.

To find the blow lamp manufacturer and/or the blow lamp that you are looking for, start by selecting the country from the table below.

Countries with blow lamp manufacturers

Argentina Germany Portugal
Australia Hungary Russia
Austria India South Africa
Belgium Italy Spain
Brazil Japan Sweden
Bulgaria Korea Switzerland
Canada Mexico Taiwan
China Netherlands Tunisia
Czechoslovakia Norway United Kingdom
France Poland USA

In many countries like Sweden, the manufacturer was one company and the retailer another company. For example, the well-known Primus blow lamp was produced by J. V. Svenssons Fotogenköksfabrik but sold by B. A. Hjorth & Co. under the brand name Primus. J. V. Svenssons Fotogenköksfabrik later changed name to AB Primus and this company was later purchased by B. A. Hjorth & Co.

In a case like this, I have chosen to list all three companies as manufacturers but also trying to describe the history of each company as well as their relations.

If you have a blow lamp and are uncertain which country it comes from you can get some general hints by studying "identification of blow lamps" in the Collecting page and if that also fails you can try the Unknown page.

After you have found the manufacturer/retailer or the brand name you are looking for, you can continue to the history of that particular manufacturer, range of products produced by him etc by clicking on the name.
