SOFIA FLODIN Sofia Flodin
Sofia Flodin is a singer from Stockholm, Sweden, who graduated from the Royal Academy Opera Course in London in the summer of 2003. She received her postgraduate Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music with distinction and a DipRAM. While at the RAM Sofia won the Elena Gerhardt Lieder Prize for her Brahms interpretations, Second Prize in the Ludmila Andrew Russian Song Competition, the Benjamin Dale and Leverhulme Awards. She was also a Finalist in the National Mozart Competition 2002 in Liverpool and won Fourth Prize and the David Kelly Oratorio Prize. Sofia was furthermore awarded the prestigious Swedish Wagner Society Bayreuth Bursary 2003.

In operas Sofia has performed Lapak /Dog in Janacek's Cunning Little Vixen (conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras and Alex Briger), Nerone in L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Laurence Cummings), White Cat in Ravel's L'Enfant et les Sortilèges (Dominick Wheeler) and Mistress Quickly in Falstaff (Iain Ledingham), as well as Charlotte in Werther, Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Gluck's Orfeo  in Opera Scenes. Last year she repeated the role of Mistress Quickly in a production of Verdi's Falstaff in the Ice Globe Theatre in Jukkasjärvi, north of the polar circle, to which she returned this January through March as Bellini's Romeo.

Sofia has also had the opportunity to perform many oratorios with choirs and orchestras in the UK, among them the Messiah, Elijah, Judas Maccabaeus and Elgar's The Kingdom and Coronation Ode and Verdi's Requiem in Penzance, Cornwall .
