A short presentation of my favorite 50 rebel-movies.

1953 comes Marlon Brando´s THE WILD ONE, and in a short time T-shirts, jeans and leather jackets became symbols of rebellion. The movie is about a motorcycle gang, "Black rebels motorcycle club" and they want to have a ball in a small town. There is a scene where a girl asks Johnny (Brando's character)-: What are you rebelling against Johnny? and he answers:-Whaddya got? The line is a classic. Click here to see more....

1955 James Dean does REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and it is one of a kind. The pain of a misunderstood youth, frustration, boredom and the search of something to hold on to. Parents who don´t listen. All of this is in the movie.
A classic.

1978 a new bunch of characters enters the screen on the big movie theaters. Danny, Kenickie and the others in the T-bird gang, the Pink ladies and the Australian girl Sandy. They become cult as soon as we let our eyes on them. GREASE was here to stay !! I mean, who doesn´t remember "Summer nights ", "Hopeless devoted´" and "You are the one that I want".

1983 comes STREETS OF FIRE, and you can see similarities with Johnny's mc-gang. The Bombers and their leader Raven (Willem Dafoe) kidnaps a famous female rock singer namned Ellen Aim. Tough and raw lines like - Tom Cody, please to meet ya! Neonlights, fast cars and bikes, mixed 50's and 80's style and real good music, makes this movie a masterpice. Click here to see more....

It´s made by Francis Ford Coppola and you find many, although young but well-known faces. It takes place in the 60's, but you can see the greasy hair, the t-shirts without arms, the leather and the searching for the meaning of life. Click here to see more....

1985 the australian film industry makes a grand story about Lola, a girl from Bundaberg. Her mother is a single parent and works as a bar pianist. It is 1957 and rock n roll finds the way to the heart of the youth. Lola finds a friend in Brownie Hansen, and they decide to become the town's first rockers. Naturally they fall in love. She becomes pregnant and they run away. They become THE DELINQUENTS. Kylie Minogue and Charlie Schlatter make this movie unforgettable.

1986 For my generation, there are some movies that everybody can relate to. DIRTY DANCING is one of them. Patrik Swayze and Jennifer Grey do the main characters as Baby and the dance teacher. For me, this isn´t just the pink shimmering romantic film. It shows the struggle of the youngsters and the outsiders who like colored music and have sex. I mean, look at the dance scene where the couples sweat and dance tightly. "Do you love me" fills the air and the least you can say is that it's erotic. Totally forbidden at the time when the movie takes place. Old values against young people who want to live.

1991 Cry baby Walker is a juvenile delinquent in Baltimore 1954. With a ducktailed haircut, he drives fast cars, carries illegal weapons and sings the coloured music called rockabilly. His specialty is a well-dressed tear. It's funny, it's tough and has great scenes. CRY BABY is played by Johnny Depp and one of my favourite musicians, Iggy Pop, plays the grandmother's boyfriend. Further on Ricky Lake, Tracy Lords are some of the main characters. Click here to see more....
