My main project for the moment is the VW Hebmüller Proto number One replica.

The original Hebmüller Proto number One was built in March 21st 1949

Hebmuller Prototype body number 14-0001

The dream about a VW Hebmüller started back in 1984 when I happened to see a picture of two Hebmüllers in a book.

In the year 1996 (I think) I found a 1952 splitwindow beetle (or it should have been) that some "callook freak" from the 80's hade saved the rearwindow from... I decided that it would be the perfect donor/basecar to make my dreamcar from. (I know there are a few Vintage restorers who don't approve with my decition, but yet again I'm pretty sure nobody would have even thought about restoring the wreck to original anyways...)

The starting point

Here "The Hebster" is now. It have been un touched for about 3 years now because I have been building us a new house... But the spring 2004 I will continue working on The Hebster again.

The body have been strenghtened with sheetmetall as the real Hebs have. Heaterchannel reinforcement, a cross member under the rearseat, and double sheetmetal in the footwells.

During the winter 2004/5 I worked on the original 1952 chassie. I had to replace the framehead because it was in very bad shape.

Finally in the spring 2005 I could release the unfinished body from its almost 5 years long beautysleep in the barn at my parents place...

I continued working on the body during the summer, but it is still going slow... I've done some work on the rear decklid and started to strenghten the windscreen frame.
