Borgholm castle ruin

Situated near the town Borgholm on the second biggest island Öland in Sweden. The castle has a long history and the oldest part, ruins from a castal (a round watch tower), are from the 12th century.

The castle was destroyed in a fire 1809 after have been decaying for a century.

Today it is a marvelous ruin. Often used for concerts. There is also a museum about the castle. Nearby is the Swedish Royal families summer recidens Solliden.
